El primer día comenzó muy temprano. Nos despertamos a las 5 de la mañana y nos dirigimos al aeropuerto. Allí nos encontramos y el avión despegó alrededor de las 9. Cuatro horas y media mas tarde nuestra aventura realmente comenzó. Un divertido oficial de migración nos dio la bienvenida a Canadá diciendonos que no podía dejar que Carlos entrara al país, ya que tiene quince, pero en el momento no nos reimos. Luego llegaron nuestras maletas y el brillante color azul del signo nos esperaba fuera. Un locuaz conductor nos llevó hasta el lago Saint George, nuestra estancia, donde nos reunimos 7 de los otros estudiantes y la mayoría del personal. Es un hermoso lugar con los árboles y los mosquitos. Desde luego, no esperaba este calor. Mañana vamos a conocer al resto de los estudiantes y les diremos cómo nos va.
The first day started really early. We woke up at 5 in the morning and we headed for the airport. There we met and took off at around 9 o clock. After four and a half hours later our adventure really started. A funny migration officer welcomed us into Canada by telling us he couldn´t let Carlos into the country since he is fifteen, but at the time we didn´t really laugh. We then got our bags and found the bright blue color of the Cape Farewell sign waiting for us outside.
A very talkative driver took us to Lake Saint George, our staying place, were we met 7 of the other students and most of the staff. It is a beautiful place with loads of trees and mosquitoes. We certainly didn´t expect this hot weather. Tomorrow we should meet all the rest of the students and well tell you how that goes.

Arctic Outfit - Equipo para el Ártico
Hoy me fui a comprar cosas para el Ártico. Gracias a un amigo llamado David encontré una tienda que yo no pensé que fuera a existir en esta ciudad, ideal para los climas de allá. Combinando la ropa que mi linda tía me prestó, con las cosas que me compre hoy, así es como me debería de ver en unas semanas:

Today I went shopping for Arctic gear. Thanks to a friend called David I found a shop I thought wouldn’t exist in this city, ideal for those weathers. So combining the clothes my nice aunt lent me a few weeks ago, and the things I bought today, here is how my outfit should look:

Empezando de verdad-Starting for real
Para que se den una idea de como nos veiamos Carlos y yo cuando ganamos, y ademas soy fan de Phelps.
I can't really describe how Carlos and me felt when we won, so this recent olympic picture portrays it better, besides, I support Phelps.

Han pasado 2 meses con 27 días desde la ultima vez que escribí, y para ser sinceros, fue porque no estaba seguro de si esto iba a despegar. En los últimos días varias cosas han pasado pero la mas importante es que estoy orgulloso de decirles que finalmente quede seleccionado para formar parte de la expedición a Cape Farewell 2008. O sea: Me voy al Ártico!!! Mi amigo Carlos M. también fue elegido. Y les debo una disculpa por no haberles dado esta noticia antes pero las vacaciones me habían tenido ocupado y francamente nada mas no me lo creía.
Pero bueno, ya estoy de vuelta, y espero que ustedes sigan interesados.
Lo bueno es que también debido a las vacaciones todo el proyecto estaba como en pausa, así que no se han perdido de mucho. Lo mas reciente es que el día de mañana voy a tener una videoconferencia con los dos estudiantes de Brasil que también se van. Como nunca he hecho una, suena interesante. Ahora si prometo que de ahora en adelante los mantendré informados.

In these past days many things have happened and today, I am proud to tell you I have been chosen to take part in the Cape Farewell Youth Expedition 2008. My schoolmate Carlos M. was also chosen. I owe an apology for not posting this news earlier, but holidays had kept me busy, and frankly I was overwhelmed.
Now I’m back, and I hope you are with me.
Also due to the holidays, the project was like ‘paused’ so you didn’t miss much. Recent news is that on Friday I’m having a videoconference with the 2 Brazilian students that are also going. I’ve never done one before so it should be interesting. I promise that from now one, I’ll keep you posted.
